Brachymetatarsia (Congenitally short toe)

Dr Helmer offers a one step correction for Brachymetatarsia (Congenitally short toe). The procedure is fast, safe, and results in a very desirable cosmetic and functional  result. The procedure may performed in the office, hospital, or surgery center according to patient needs. \

Plantar Fascitis Repair

Dr. Helmer performs a minimally invasive no stitch plantar fascia repair (Plantar Fasciotomy). The procedure is usually done in the office, with the patient requiring Band-Aids 48 hours after the procedure, and the patient resuming normal activities in 5-7 days.  

Anke Sprain Repair

When required, Dr. Helmer offers a minimally invasive ankle ligament repair for chronic ankle sprains associated with chronic pain, swelling, and instability of the chronically sprained/unstable ankle. Performed in the office, the procedure is  accomplished in under 20 minutes, with a minimal incision site.


Minimally Invasive Surgery

Dr. Helmer is very proficient in performing correction of numerous foot conditions via  minimally invasive techniques, resulting in less recovery time and more  favorable cosmetic, functional results, with far less recovery time and risks to  the patient. Bunions, hammertoes, and bone spurs are some of the numerous  problems correctable. Traditional procedures are also employed when required or  desirable.


Skin lesions and Diseased Toenails 

Dr. Helmer treats a myriad of conditions, including ingrown, deformed, and fungus nails, with medical and/or surgical therapies utilized. Skin lesions including growths,  ulcers, cysts and warts are removed promptly with minimal discomfort, and biopsy performed when required. Cryosurgery (Liquid nitrogen freezing) is most  frequently utilized in these techniques.


Chronic Foot Pain

Dr. Helmer is experienced in diagnosing and treating numerous pain syndromes affecting the patient’s ability to walk without pain. RSD, devitalized bone, chronic strain due to bone loss, soft tissue strain due to tendonitis and related conditions are treated by a variety of effective approaches.
